3 juveniles charged in UT campus robberies


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Three juvenile suspects were arrested early Sunday morning after a string of robberies on the University of Tennessee campus.

The first incident happened approximately 12:30 a.m. near Lake Avenue as the victim was walking back to his dormitory.

The three suspects demanded money and the victim's cell phone. The male victim was not injured.

The second robbery happened around 2:04 a.m. near Reese Hall. The male and female victims were robbed of their money and a cell phone.

The third incident happened around 2:23 a.m. in the parking lot of a business on Cumberland Avenue. The male victim was robbed of his money and was not injured.

A few minutes later, three males matching the suspect descriptions were located near 16th Street and Clinch Avenue. Knoxville police arrested two of the three immediately while the third ran away.

That person was located a few minutes later and taken into custody for questioning.

Property belonging to the victims were recovered. All three suspects were charged with robbery and taken to the juvenile detention facility.
