KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A former Knox County Sheriff's Office corrections officer was killed in a single car crash Monday night on Raccoon Valley Road.

Deputies say Jason Williams, 40, was ejected from his car when it hit a fence at 1507 West Raccoon Valley Road. He was pronounced dead at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Investigators say speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Williams was terminated from the sheriff's office on August 19 after being charged with DUI and theft.

He was arrested at Cotton Eyed Joe on August 16, accused of stealing a bag with two cell phones and car keys. The victims say they found Williams with their items in the parking lot and their car had been relocated.
