KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knox County crews are getting ready to take on three bridge projects. Bridge safety has been a hot button issue as talk continues about improvements the nation's infrastructure.

The county is beginning the three bridge projects this month, all of which should be completed in about around three months' time.

The bridges, located in the Powell, Corryton and Kodak areas, all cross local creeks.

The bridge projects will be dealing with the substructure, or the portions below the deck elevation. That means a lot of the work will be conducted under the bridge, but there will still be periodic lane closures.

The plan is for the bulk of the lane closures to happen in non-peak travel times, but drivers still need to be prepared.

Drivers should be alert in Powell on Brickyard Road over Beaver Creek. In Corryton, it's the bridge on Roberts Road over Roseberry Creek, and near Kodak, crews will be working on the bridge on Russell Road over Tuckahoe Creek.

All three projects are either just getting underway or will soon. The target completion time is mid-January 2014.
