HonorAir Knoxville flies veterans to US Capitol despite shutdown


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - HonorAir flew more than 125 veterans from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. Wednesday despite the government shutdown.

The group flies veterans to visit monuments and the nation's war memorials.

HonorAir says it will do everything possible to see that local veterans get the full experience.

The group flew out from McGhee Tyson Airport at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday and is scheduled to return at 8:15 p.m.

This will be HonorAir's 15th flight to the nation's Capitol.
