Oak Ridge deer hunt canceled due to shutdown

OAK RIDGE (WATE) - A deer hunt scheduled for later this month at the Oak Ridge Wildlife Management Area has been canceled as a result of the government shutdown.

The hunts were originally scheduled on October 19 and 20.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says it was informed by the U.S. Department of Energy Oak Ridge Operations that the cancellation was necessary to ensure a safe and secure shutdown of the Department of Energy facilities in Oak Ridge.

A decision on the other deer hunts scheduled for November and December will be made at a later date
