Over 100 Tennessee National Guard employees still face furloughs

NASHVILE (WATE) - Though decisions were made earlier this week to bring 1,477 Tennessee National Guard Military Technicians back to work who were furloughed on Oct. 1, the government shutdown will still affect more than 100 state employees whose salaries are reimbursed by the federal government.

Major General Max Haston says 103 state employees are scheduled to be furloughed on October 11.

"We simply cannot assume the risk that the federal government will reimburse the state for these employees' wages," stated Haston.

he employees affected are primarily located at the three Air National Guard Bases in Nashville, Knoxville and Memphis along with four Tennessee National Guard Training Sites headquartered in Smyrna.
