Medical personnel were called to a scene in Cookeville earlier this week after a jogger found a heart in a Ziploc bag.

According to The Herald Citizen, the jogger found the heart Tuesday in the intersection of West Broad Street and Willow Avenue and went straight to the police station.

Police called in a detective and medical personnel to determine if the heart was human.

Reports stated it was eventually determined to belong to a pig.

Witnesses told the responding officer a medical official was working nearby at a fitness business, and police requested the MD come check out the heart.

The medical expert deemed it was either a human or pig's heart, but was unsure.  Authorities then called a detective who arrived at the scene with a cardiologist.

The cardiologist told police it was most likely a pig's heart.

The jogger initially believed it was a liver, telling police he knew because he had recently performed dissections at Tennessee Tech University.

The organ was later disposed of.
