GATLINBURG (WATE) - A boy recovering for cancer has a fresh bedroom thanks to local volunteers.

6 News has been following the story of Regen Morris for months. He's battling a rare form of brain cancer called anaplastic astrocytoma.

Today, volunteers from the University of Tennessee chapter of Phi Mu along with Special Spaces helped renovate Regen's room.

They built new shelves, painted the bedroom and added new curtains along with some artwork.

Regen's dad says the volunteers had Regen's brothers in mind during the makeover. They wanted to give the three boys a place to play together.

"It's just another in a very long line of groups and individuals that have come forward during in our very difficult time to offer their services to us... really from all over the East Tennessee area," said Dan Morris. "We are just very extremely grateful that another group has chosen to do this on our behalf."

Regen is still recuperating at home and receiving treatments.
