Bystanders rescue woman from Tellico Lake

TELLICO VILLAGE (WATE) - Bystanders jumped into action Sunday afternoon when a woman nearly drowned in Tellico Lake.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials say Marilyn Allbritten, 71, fell overboard near Tellico Village Yacht Club just outside the wake zone around 4 p.m.

Her husband was operating the 22-foot pontoon boat. He jumped in after her, but was unable to reach her.

Some other boaters who were nearby were able to get her out of the water and began to resuscitate her until emergency personnel arrived.

Allbritten was taken to Fort Loudoun Medical Center. Officers say she was alert and able to speak.
