ALCOA (WATE) - A former teacher at Prospect Elementary School in Blount County was arrested Monday night on child pornography charges.

John Daniel Lynn, 38, is being held in the Blount County Detention Facility on $75,000 bond. He is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

Deputies say Lynn's arrest was the result of an online investigation by the sheriff's office's HEAT (High-Tech Evidence and Technology) Unit, which is part of the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) program.

Investigators served a search warrant at Lynn's Alcoa home Monday night and seized his computer. A forensic exam revealed images and videos of child pornography downloaded from the Internet.

Blount County Director of Schools Rob Britt says his office received notification of Lynn's arrest Monday.

Lynn, who was employed at Prospect Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher, resigned from his position.

School officials say Lynn taught fifth grade at Shannondale Elementary in Knox County last year, but his position was eliminated as a result of a reduction in teaching positions. He was previously employed as a substitute.
