Knox County Schools fires 2 employees facing charges

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two men facing unrelated charges were terminated last from their employment with Knox County Schools, school officials said Wednesday.

Kevin Lee Waggoner, 42, is charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of his neighbor, Michael Adam Woodby, on Sept. 17.

Waggoner was a security officer with the school system.

Gary Hamilton, 48, has been charged with simple assault after an altercation with a student on Sept. 16.

Hamilton worked as an In-School Suspension (ISS) instructional assistant at Fulton High School.

Both men had been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of investigations into their cases.
