NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

State agencies are set to hold a news conference on Thursday morning to address the number of traffic fatalities reported so far in 2013.

The event is scheduled to be held beginning at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the James K. Polk building located at Sixth Avenue in downtown Nashville.

So far this year, nearly 800 people have been killed on Tennessee roadways, including eight people who were involved in a fatal bus crash on Interstate 40 east of Knoxville earlier this month.

The total number of highway fatalities is posted each Tuesday and Friday on overhead interstate signs.
