SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Detectives at the Sevierville Police Department say they have found a man  who was previously reported missing.

Officials told 6 News late Thursday night that Paul Merrit, 68, was found safe by Great Smoky Mountains National Park Rangers in his vehicle on a park road.

Rangers say he was unharmed and uninjured.

Family members say Merrit went missing Wednesday evening.

Merrit left the home of a family member on New Riverside Drive around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to pick up his wife at church on McMahan Avenue in Sevierville. He never arrived.

It's believed he went missing due to a medical issue.

Family members said he has no past history of going missing and no known significant health conditions.
