KINGSTON (WATE) - Fellow football players will collect donations Tuesday to help the family of a Roane County High School student who was seriously injured in the opening moments of Friday night's game.

The school will hold a Walk for Seth Haynes Tuesday from 10:40 to 11:40 a.m. Students are asked but not required to make a $2 donation for family expenses related to Seth's injury.

Haynes, 15, broke his neck on the first play of the school's game against Sequoyah.

He underwent a four-hour surgery Saturday night at UT Medical Center. Doctors say the surgery went well, but he will no longer be able to play football.

The walk will start at the Gravel Pit across Highway 70 in front of the Kingston Community Center and travel to the 58 Landing along the walking path.

Some members of the football team will collect money from the public at the Gravel Pit during the walk.

Additional donations can be made to:

Citizen's National Bank
