KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Running a marathon is something few people ever accomplish, Zane Hagy, 42, of Knoxville, doesn't have just one marathon on his list. He has 25.

To be in tip top shape for tackling each 26-mile course, Hagy hits the gym at Adaptive Fitness Warehouse every day, running stairs, rope training, and doing other high intensity workouts to keep his entire body in shape, not just his legs.

He's part owner of the gym, so you could say he literally buys into the concept of working out to stay in shape.

Hagy has been running seriously for close to a dozen years and has completed 50 marathons in that time.

Now, he's closing the time gap with the plan to finish 25 by June.

"In order to keep moving, I have to have a goal," he said.

Hagy's personal marathon record is 3 hours, 22 minutes.

His fitness level is light years ahead of where he used to be several years ago, and got started on the treadmill just to lose weight.

"I was about 60 to 80 pounds heavier than I should've been, " he recalls.

Now, Hagy hopes to be an inspiration to others.

"When people are trying to make themselves better," he says, "they want to make others better, too."
