Colder air moves into East Tennessee

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Cooler air moves into East Tennessee Wednesday, with afternoon highs only getting into the mid-50s.

It will also be breezy at times, with a 20 percent chance of a stray shower.

The 6 Storm Team says low temperatures will plummet to near freezing Wednesday night. There is a Frost Advisory for valley locations, a Freeze Watch on the plateau, and a Freeze Warning for mountain locations.

Temperatures slowly warm back into the mid-50s by Thursday afternoon.

This same pattern continues through the weekend, but keep in mind the coldest night of the week will be Friday night. If you plan to attend a high school football game, keep in mind that temperatures will start in the 40s and end in the upper-30s.

Overnight lows will continue to fall into the upper-20s by Saturday morning!
