KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Dollywood's newest roller coaster, The Fire Chaser Express, will not only excite thrill seekers next spring, but also honor hundreds of East Tennessee's finest.

The theme park officially kiced off its Fire Chaser Express Heroes Tour Wednesday morning at Knoxville's Downtown Fire Station Number One.

Between now and March 2014, Dollywood officials will visit a number of stations across the area. At each stop, firefighters will be asked to sign a ceremonial fire hose which will eventually be displayed at the ride site.

"It will be a permanent display for firefighters all around the region to be honored by what we're doing with the heroes tour," said Dollywood spokesperson Pete Owens.

"Our firefighters have been excited about it, to be a part of it," said Knoxville Fire Chief Stan Sharp. "I'm assuming it's going to be on display as long as the ride is going, so we're certainly pleased that Dollywood has taken this opportunity to acknowledge the firefighters."

Along with the signed hose, a vintage 1941 fire truck will also be on display once the ride opens.

The Fire Chaser Express roller coaster will officially make it's debut this spring at Dollywood.
