KNOXVILLE (WATE) - If you've walked around the University of Tennessee campus, you may have seen or heard street preacher John McGlone's sermons.

McGlone got into a shouting match Wednesday with a student and it was caught on camera.

McGlone is known around campus for preaching to students walking to class. The student who got into the heated exchange with him says the McGlone's behavior goes too far.

University of Tennessee junior Brandon Hill felt the street preacher was overstepping his bounds and fired back.

"He just was there and was telling us that we're all terrible people so I finally stood up and said you know listen you don't know me you don't know my life I've been a Christian my entire life  and I'm proud to say that and I'm proud to tell anyone that but what you're doing is spreading hate, you're not spreading love," Hill said about the incident.

UT tried to prevent the preacher from coming on campus, but in August the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled he was entitled to a preliminary injunction against the university.

That injunction prohibited UT from enforcing a requirement that he, or any other speaker not affiliated with the university, be sponsored by a member of the university community before speaking on campus.

UT is working on a new policy for speakers on campus.
