I-40 reopens after chicken parts spill on road


Lanes of Interstate 40 reopened after being closed for nearly two hours after a semi carrying chicken parts spilled on the roadway.

The westbound incident was reported around 3:20 p.m. close to mile marker 212, near Fesslers Lane. All lanes reopened just before 5:30 p.m.

Crews from the Tennessee Department of Transportation responded to the scene and put salt on the roadway after it was heavily sprayed off with water.

Eastbound traffic was not affected.

No additional information was immediately released.
