KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Kids were giving their costumes a trial run Sunday at "Halloween in the City" at Knoxville's Civic Coliseum.

An organizer tells 6 News the event started eight years ago to give kids a safe place to trick-or-treat.

There was also a costume contest, where Max Moore Tried his luck. He dressed up as "Steve" from the video game "Minecraft."

"Well I didn't win the contest. I was really hoping I did. I was thinking I did, but I didn't," said Moore.

Other attendees enjoyed gathering candy and sweet treats at Sunday's event, while they showed off their costumes.

"I went around and I trick-or-treated, and it was pretty awesome, too," said Sierra Desroches.

This year's group of trick-or-treaters was the biggest ever for the event.
