KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The victims in Monday's four-vehicle fatal crash on Alcoa Highway near Ginn Drive have been identified by police.

Officers say John Thompson, 83, was killed in the crash. The preliminary investigation indicated the Thompson's Subaru Impreza Subaru Impreza crossed both southbound lanes of Alcoa Highway and for an unknown reason, stopped in the inside northbound lane.

Thompson's vehicle was hit by a northbound Chevrolet Impala driven by Nicole Lewis, 31.

This caused the Subaru to go up and over the median, crashing head-on into southbound Audi A4 driven by Joe Espino, 44.

The Audi spun around and into the path of a southbound GMC Arcadia driven by Wilferd Good, 60, which also crashed into the Audi.

Lewis, Espino and Jessica Cole, 21, a passenger in Espino's vehicle, were all injured. Good refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of Alcoa Highway for a time and caused several traffic backups Monday.
