DANDRIDGE (WATE) - A Jefferson County High School teacher is a finalist in Today's Kathie Lee and Hoda's Teacher of the Year contest. Visitors to Today's website can vote for one of the teachers, and the winner will receive $10,000 for her classroom.

Billie Yardley's theatre arts classroom was destroyed when a roof collapsed at the school in July following heavy rain.

Her entry on Today's website says she lost costumes, trophies and personal items. Her classroom has now been reduced to a mobile cart. The entry says Yardley was nominated for her enthusiasm and not giving up on her students, despite a difficult year ahead.

Yardley is competing against two other teachers, one from Haslet, Texas and one from Duke, Oklahoma.

Voting is open until 11:59 p.m. on November 4.
