SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – Former governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee paid a visit Wednesday night to East Tennessee.

Huckabee was the guest speaker for the Celebrators Conference at the Sevierville Convention Center.

A meet-and-greet was held before he spoke to the crowd of thousands.

"Republicans need to focus on what brings them together rather than what separates them," Huckabee said about the current state of politics. "Republicans have to stop the fighting of each other and recognize that there's that much difference across the spectrum of Republicans."

"But there's an enormous amount of difference between any Republican and the Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barack Obama version of the Democratic Party," he added.

Huckabee went on to say he thinks the tea party has energized the GOP, not hurt it.
