KNOXVILLE (WATE) - There are two Mexican style restaurants with low health inspection grades this week.

A number of critical health violations contributed to the low scores: employee hygiene, food temperatures, and bugs in the kitchen to name a few.

3 Amigos Mexican Restaurant, 603 E. Emory Road - Grade: 66

A grade below 70 is considered unsanitary.

When the inspector checked the dishwasher, no sanitizer was running through the system. Therefore, the dishes and utensils were not being properly sanitized. The inspector also writes the dishwasher was dirty.

An employee who was not wearing gloves was observed touching dirty items in the kitchen, and he didn't wash his hands as started preparing food.

If he had tried to wash his hands at the hand sink, the hot water was cut off. There had apparently been a leak.

Bleach was found stored next to drink mixes, which is the wrong place. Chemicals like bleach are supposed to be stored separately to avoid any mistakes.

Meksiko Cantina, 120 West End Avenue - Grade: 70

That's a passing grade, but there are critical violations.

The inspector found fruit flies flying around the food preparation table.

A bug killer was found stored over drinking glasses, which is an accident waiting to happen.

When he checked raw beef, it was not at temperature. It should have been 41 degrees or below, but it wasn't.

There was also mold found in the ice machine.
