AAA offers free tow service to keep drunk drivers off the road

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - AAA is again offering its free "Tow to Go" service to keep drunk drivers off the road during Halloween weekend.

The service is designed to be used as a last resort and is offered based on availability of AAA Service Technicians and tow trucks during times of high call volume.

The service provides a confidential local ride within a 10-mile radius to a safe location. The tow truck will take the vehicle and the driver home.

The service will be offered Thursday, October 31 through Sunday, November 3.

AAA advises tow trucks can take up to two people home, but more people will need to make other arrangements.

You cannot make an appointment for Tow to Go. It is designed to be used as a last resort, so AAA advises to have a designated driver if you intend to consume alcohol.

East Tennesseans who wish to use the service can call (800) 234-1222.

In Florida, Georgia or West and Middle Tennessee, call (855) 286-9246.
