Korean War veteran to get Purple Heart

NASHVILLE (AP) - A Korean War veteran is being awarded the Purple Heart more than 60 years after being wounded.

Earl G. Taylor was wounded on Jan. 22, 1951, while serving near the city of Taegu with the U.S. Army's Second Infantry Division.

On Monday, he will be recognized by Major General Terry "Max" Haston, Tennessee's adjutant general, with the medal for wounds sustained in combat.

The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. CST in the Hall of Flags at the Tennessee National Guard Joint Task Force Headquarters on 3041 Sidco Drive in Nashville.
