KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Video gamers were hard at work Saturday and Sunday raising thousands of dollars for the East Tennessee Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network.

The Extra Life gaming marathon took place at the Knoxville Convention Center and lasted for 25 hours thanks to the time change.

Participants could play any kind of game, from video to board games, wherever they wanted.

The marathon took donations by the hour and raised $13,000. That's almost four times as much money as last year's event.

Unfortunately, organizers of the event said they did have some issues with hackers who kept shutting down the donation website.
