KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Plans for a new soccer complex in Downtown Knoxville were unveiled Monday.

The H. T. Hackney Corporation and the Emerald Youth Foundation are partnering to make the new Sansom Sports Complex possible. It will be located at Dale Avenue and 17th street in Knoxville.

The complex will feature three fields for soccer, lacrosse, flag football and training as well as concession areas, club houses and parking.

Officials with the Emerald Youth Foundation say they hope kids in Knoxville who don't play sports will get new opportunities to just that.

"There's a lot of children in our city, a good portion of them, that don't play any sports or part of any physical activities like this in our community. so we're going to provide a good opportunity for young people who usually don't get involved in sports to have that opportunity now," said Steve Diggs, executive director of Emerald Youth Foundation.

The project is expected to be complete by summer 2015.
