KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Josh Dobbs took over as Tennessee's starting quarterback against Missouri and he survived to talk about it.

In a break from standard operating procedure for freshman players, Dobbs was allowed to talked to the media for the first time on Tuesday.

"My head is where it's at every week, it's just a new week," Dobbs said after practice.

"It's just another opportunity to go out and compete. It is a great opportunity with Auburn. We have our things to work on from the Missouri game so we're taking every day to grow and get better as a team."

Dobbs threw 42 passes against Missouri. He also threw three interceptions.

Tennessee hosts No. 10 Auburn this week.

"I learned a lot. Every time you step on the field it's a learning opportunity. So I learned a lot about the college game and things I need to continue to improve on every day."

Dobbs is a freshman studying aeronautical engineering.

"My ultimate goal is to build and design airplanes. Fly them in my free time, but I don't want to be a pilot. My goal is to design airplanes and hopefully one day own my own airplane company."

Dobbs is from Atlanta and says he was inspired to pursue aeronautics in the 7th grade when he became aware of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American U.S. Army air division that flew during World War II.
