I am a foodie, but not in the sense of cooking exotic, complicated dishes. I just like eating/cooking in general and discovering local restaurants that put a unique spin on your average dish. When I travel, food is the first thing I look for. I like my pizza from NY, my chowder from New England and my hot dogs Chicago style. I am forever in search of the perfect burger.
To counteract my love for food, I try to stay active. My first marathon was the 2013 Chicago Marathon. It was a great experience and I'd definitely do it again-- when I get the motivation to start training again.
When I'm not at work (or running/eating) you can find me watching an array of sports channel or traveling to visit my geographically diverse family (NJ, New England, West Coast, DC and everywhere in between).
What You Enjoy About Local News:
I got into news to be a storyteller. I've been a writer since I was a kid and I have always enjoyed telling stories that connect emotionally with my audience/reader. Sports was a major part of my childhood. I have three (much) older brothers and parents who threw me into every sport imaginable, from soccer and baseball to figure skating and fencing. I did it all. I even went on to fence in college. Through athletics, I learned the compelling stories behind every athlete on the field/court/pitch/track/ice etc. I love getting to know the athletes, helping them to tell their stories and hopefully, inspiring others.
