KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One-time murder suspect Leon Houston was found not guilty of federal weapons charges Wednesday after he and his brother Rocky were arrested in January.

Houston had been charged with owning a gun, which is illegal because of a prior felony conviction.

According to court documents, Houston's brother Rocky Houston was arrested after a federal Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco investigation determined he illegally owned guns.

Agents determined that Houston was in possession of the guns after setting up a surveillance camera on a public utility pole near his property.

After his arrest, federal investigators obtained a search warrant for his property. Leon Houston, also lived on the property in a mobile home.

When investigators went to serve the warrant, Leon Houston approached the officers on a four-wheeler with two armed rifles and a loaded handgun.

Both brothers have been held in federal custody since their arrests.

A federal court jury found Leon Houston not guilty on Wednesday. Trial for his brother Rocky is still pending.

The two brothers were charged and tried, but never convicted of first degree murder of a deputy and former police officer in 2006.
