PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky attorney general's office says the Bell County clerk and three of her deputies have been arrested in connection with people not receiving tax refunds they were owed.

Attorney General Jack Conway's office said in a news release that Bell County Clerk Rebecca Blevins, 45 was arrested Friday, along with Deputy Clerk Flora Ferrell, 55; Deputy Clerk Kayla Carnes, 23; and Deputy Clerk Connie Watkins, 40.

The release said the investigation involved more than 50 people who bought vehicles outside Kentucky and never received a tax refund. According to Conway's office, Blevins, Ferrell and Carnes are accused of keeping approximately $12,200 in refunds, while Watkins is accused of assisting in the scheme.

Online jail records did not indicate whether the four are represented by lawyers.
