Comcast apologizes for widespread Saturday afternoon outage

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Comcast issued an apology Monday for a widespread outage Saturday afternoon that interrupted many Vol fans' viewing of the football game against Auburn.

"On Saturday afternoon, a network issue occurred that interrupted video service for many of our Knoxville area customers. Although service was restored within 2.5 hours, we realize the outage occurred at a particularly bad time for our customers. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused and we are investigating further to prevent this from happening again," read the statement.

Some customers were able to be tuned in late in the third quarter, just in time for fans to watch Auburn clinch the win. Complete service was up by 3 p.m.

Voice and Internet services were not affected.
