RUTLEDGE (WATE) - Deputies with the Grainger County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday that three inmates who escaped over the weekend were reported missing Friday night, after initially telling the media the escape happened Sunday.

Deputies now say Dennis Rucker, Shane Farrow and David Valentine escaped Friday night around 7:30 p.m. as revealed by surveillance tapes which were reviewed on Saturday.

In a media release issued Monday morning, the sheriff's department said the three were noted missing Sunday night around 10:30 p.m.

District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn then said his office became involved Sunday afternoon around 5:30 p.m., leading Grainger County deputies to say they became aware of the escape around that time.

Two jail employees were fired after the incident, identified Tuesday as Michael Sane and Cody Wolfe. Sane had been employed there for about two years, while Wolfe had been there for a year. Officials say their actions were negligent, but not intentional.

The three escapees have extensive criminal histories and are considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on the inmates' whereabouts is asked to call the Grainger County Sheriff's Department at (865) 828-3613 or Grainger County Central Dispatch at (865) 828-3337.
