TAZEWELL (WATE) - A Claiborne County man was arrested Sunday after firing at officers at his home following a domestic dispute.

Jonathan Gulley, 31, is charged with attempted second degree murder on an officer, aggravated assault on an officer, domestic assault and tampering with evidence.

Officers say they were sent to 2555 Cave Springs Road Sunday on a report of a domestic in progress.

911 dispatchers said the suspect was armed with a high powered rifle, a handgun and a knife, and was leaving the residence.

Shortly thereafter, he returned to the home, and was still possibly armed.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect fired three shots at officers with a handgun and fled into the woods behind the home.

The Claiborne County Sheriff's SWAT Team was called in to help officers arrest the suspect. Gulley surrendered without incident. No further shots were fired and no one was injured.

Gulley is currently being held in the Claiborne County Jail pending bond.
