JOHNSON CITY (AP) - A musician who was born without arms is speaking Friday night at East Tennessee State University about leading an independent life.

The school says Mark Goffeney, who is an accomplished guitar player and founder of the band Big Toe, will also perform at the 7 p.m. EST event in the Martha Street Culp Auditorium in the D.P. Culp University Center.

ETSU says Goffeney's music has led him to visit international venues and allowed him to raise more than $6 million for children's charities.

The program is hosted by the university's Office of Disability Services.
