Some state lawmakers are optimistic about wine bill

NASHVILLE (WATE) – Tennessee lieutenant governor Ron Ramsey and others are optimistic about the passage of the wine in grocery store bill in the next legislative session.

Ramsey tweeted Friday he's looking forward to expanding consumer choice and spurring economic growth by passing the measure.

A bill to allow communities to vote on the issue by referendum failed in a House committee in March. It could make a comeback when the legislative session begins in January.

Supporters say that's in part due to the public outcry for change.
