Alleged purse thief arrested in Cocke County

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - A woman accused of stealing from a family while they were attending a funeral has been arrested, according to the Cocke County Sheriff's Department.

Police say Marsha Bible was arrested on Friday evening by the Morristown Police Department in Cocke County, at a residence near the Hamblen County border.

Cocke County police say Bible stole two purses from a vehicle; she was later caught on surveillance video at three different businesses using stolen credit cards found in those handbags.

Police say the owner of that vehicle was attending her father's funeral at the time of the theft.

She's currently being held on three counts of forgery, three counts of theft under $500, five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and burglary of an automobile.

Bible's bond is set at $24,500.
