Panel named to find UofM presidential candidates

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE (AP) - A search advisory committee has been named to select the next president of the University of Memphis.

The committee is scheduled to meet Dec. 4 on the university's campus.

It is charged with identifying three to five finalists who will visit the campus for interviews.

Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan will then consult with members of the committee and make a final selection for submission to the TBR for approval.

Former University of Memphis President Shirley Raines retired at the end of June, and R. Brad Martin has served as interim president since July 1.

Martin has said he will not be a candidate for the permanent position.
