KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The group Organizing for Action gathered at Market Square Monday night and called on Congress to enact a comprehensive immigration policy.

About 20 or so people listened as speakers called for action and gathered signatures to present to Congressman Jimmy Duncan.

Supporters of the new immigration policy say "inaction" has already cost Americans some $4.9 billion in lost revenue.

They also say illegal immigrants are being exploited because of the current laws.

"There are already more than 12 million immigrants in this country here who can benefit from this. And if they came out of the shadows then the work abuses would stop," said Emma Ellis-Cosiqua, an OFA member.

Organizers say they'll present their signatures to Congressman Duncan's office Tuesday and ask for his support.
