KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knox County Commissioner Mike Hammond made it official Wednesday. He's running for criminal court clerk.

Hammond made his formal campaign announcement announcement at an event Wednesday afternoon.

Hammond first spoke to 6 News about his plans last month as current Clerk Joy McCroskey faced criticism over problems in her office.

"At looking at what has been going on in that office, I feel people have lost trust and confidence in that office because of the issues. I feel like I can bring stability to that office and make improvements to the office. I'll forward to that and hope the citizens of Knox County will give me the chance to do it," said Hammond.

Hammond, who also works as program director at a local radio station, says he'll retire from the radio business if elected.
