Ice Bears fall to travel weary Fayetteville


Knoxville (WATE) - The Fayetteville Fire Antz arrived late but left happy after a 2-1 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears at the Civic Coliseum on Thursday night.

The game was delayed approximately 90 minutes after the Fayetteville team experienced transportation issues on their way to the game.

Knoxville's Eric Satim opened the scoring with a goal at the 9:12 mark of the first period to make it 1-0.

Fayetteville's Derek Elliott tied the game with a second period goal.

Nick Craven made it 2-1 Fayetteville with a goal at the 2:56 mark of the third period.

Knoxville out shot Fayetteville 26-25.

Both teams were a combined 0-7 on the powerplay.

The Ice Bears fall to 5-2-1 on the season.

Knoxville now faces three straight road games before returning home to face Fayetteville again on Friday, Nov. 29 at the Civic Coliseum.
