Pilot settlement documents sealed

Pilot settlement documents sealed

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A federal judge sealed court documents listing companies opting out of a class-action lawsuit against Knoxville-based truck stop operator Pilot Flying J.

Pilot and other trucking companies that have chosen to take part in the $72 million class-action settlement requested the documents be sealed because they contain personal information such as tax identification numbers.

A fairness hearing on the settlement is scheduled for Monday in an Arkansas federal court.

The lawsuits came after the April raids by federal agencies on Pilot's headquarters, investigating claims that trucking companies were cheated out of discounts on large fuel purchases.

Seven former Pilot employees have pleaded guilty on fraud charges.
