Dry, but chilly weather expected with changes for Thanksgiving

KNOXVILLE (WATE)- The 6 Storm Team says Monday will be dry, but chilly, with highs in the mid 40s. Clouds thicken up during the day, and rain arrives tonight. This rain will be steady, and sometimes heavy throughout Tuesday.

By the time we reach Tuesday night, we will have two to four inches of total rain across our area. Most areas will see rain, but the northern plateau could briefly experience sleet on Tuesday morning. Temperatures will fall Tuesday night. Rain will change over to light snow, first on the plateau and mountains, then in the valley around midnight.

The ground is fairly warm, so it will have a difficult time sticking. At this time, the question remains as to how much moisture will be left once the cold air arrives. At this point, and it could change, it looks like the plateau and mountains around 2,500 feet could get one to two inches, while the valley will see a dusting to a half inch by Wednesday around noon.
