Woman struck by car in Knoxville crosswalk, sent to hospital

Woman injured after being struck by car in Knoxville crosswalk

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A woman was sent to the hospital Tuesday evening after being struck in a marked crosswalk.

Knoxville police say it happened just before 6:10 p.m. on the 400 block of N. Broadway.

Officers say the pedestrian, a 51-year-old woman, was crossing Broadway westbound when the vehicle hit her.

The driver told officials he could not see the woman because of her dark clothing and the rain.

The victim was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
