UT student injured in late night home invasion


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A University of Tennessee student was sent to the hospital after being struck on the head during a home invasion Tuesday night.

The Knoxville Police Department says it happened around 11:45 p.m. on the 2300 block of Highland Avenue, which is located in the Fort Sanders area.

The residents of the home, who attend UT, told police two men wearing dark hoodies entered their front door and took at least two laptop computers.

One of the suspects then struck the victim on the head with a gun.  The student was transported to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
