KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville Fire Department worked to extinguish an early morning house fire on Friday.

Firefighters say the blaze started around 4:30 a.m. on the 4800 block of London Circle.  A neighbor called 911 and said flames were shooting through the roof.

Crews fought the fire from inside the home, but at one point the commander ordered firefighters outside because officials were concerned about the structural integrity of the roof.

Once proven safe, crews resumed their interior fire fighting and directed their efforts toward a laundry room and the attic above.

Freezing conditions caused water to turn to ice on the sloped driveway, which also posed as a hazard to firefighters.

No one was in the home when the fire started.

The house is 40 to 50 percent burnt. No injuries have been reported.
