Dozens of guns taken in Knoxville store burglary

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The owner of a Knoxville gun store says dozens of firearms were stolen when burglars hit his store early Thanksgiving morning.

Tim Smith of Guardian Armory says the break-in happened around 2:40 a.m. A window was broken and Smith believes a small individual must have crawled through security bars to unlock the doors.

Guardian Armory is located in the 200 Block of North Seven Oaks Drive, just North of Kingston Pike.

Guns were stolen from glass display cases, which were left shattered. Smith told 6 News the store was preparing for its grand opening. Instead, it was forced to miss its first Black Friday sale.

Smith says the store will attempt to reopen on December 2.

Knoxville Police says the stolen items included several handguns and rifles, but the department was waiting for the store to provide a complete inventory.

Details on any possible suspect were not available.
