ALCOA (WATE) - A Friendsville teen died Monday morning when his vehicle struck a pole on Middlesettlements Road in Alcoa.

Alcoa police say Brandon T. Helpingstine, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Helpingstine was driving a Honda Accord on Middlesettlements Road around 7:16 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole. Officials say he was killed instantly.

City of Alcoa firefighters, Blount County sheriff's deputies and Rural/Metro assisted Alcoa police at the scene.

Funeral arrangements have been made at Victory Baptist Church in Maryville. The service is set to begin Friday at 4 p.m.
