KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Family, friends and neighbors gathered in Knoxville to remember the victim of a deadly shooting Tuesday night.

Jack Hutchins, Jr. was shot Saturday night just outside his Woodbine Avenue home as he was bringing home dinner for his family.

Hutchins left behind several children and was well-known in the community.

Tuesday night people gathered for a candlelight vigil in the 52-year-old's honor. It took place in front of the Hutchins family home.

Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero was among those who spoke to the crowd.

Those that knew Hutchins can't understand why this would happen to such a special person.

"Jack was a sensational, phenomenal person. Kind, endlessly giving. He deserved anything we could possibly give in remembrance of him," said Hutchins' cousin Jessica King.

Knoxville police are still investigating Hutchins' murder.
